Why Barney is awesome ...

Everyone always makes fun of Barney. Me included. But after a friend of mine (Jacqueline D) told me how much her daughter loves it (and of COURSE I told her it was SO dumb) I caved and let my kids watch it. They .... LOVE him.

This is why I like him too :

1. He sings songs. Good songs. That make sense and are about something. Not stupid things like that Four Squares girl that does the poems. Wtf is up with those stupid poems???

2. Many of the songs are brought back in many of the episodes so it's not just one episode for that song. Amélie LOVES the fact that she now knows a few songs that are in many of the episodes and is proud she can sing along.

3. William just likes watching and when Amélie dances so does he. He LOVES dancing and rocking out. He's even started clapping along with many of the songs.

4. For being a huge dinosaur puppet thing ... Barney is really flexible and spry. He runs around everywhere frig.

5. He teaches kids to use their imagination and I've noticed a MAJOR change in Amélie in using her imagination. I means he used it before but now she doesn't need something to BE something (ie a doll, she'll take a pop bottle and pretend it's a doll now)

6. Okay seriously, the kids are hilarious in their acting but I've seen a million times worse. Like those kids on that freaky yoga show with the creepy little floating creepy ... things ...

7. There are more I'm sure but .... basically don't diss Barney because he's my new pal. The music is the bomb and I'm super happy I can buy his CDs and get away with saying 'I have kids'

Kids Check-ups

Because life in the prairies isn't boring enough, I thought I would update you on my kids health check-up.

So they had a health check-up. The end. Just kidding, you don't get off that easy.

Amélie - 35lbs, and I can't remember how tall, but ... on the tall side.
William - 21-22 lbs, 29 inches tall.

Both are 100% healthy ... well except for our sinus congestion of course.

The biggest concern anyone has ever had about my kids (mostly my mom and I suppose a few co-workers and other people who thought their concern in their head) has been the dark circles under our eyes. Just so you can now all rest easy ... it's allergies. We live in a very old, poorly made house with poor air, lots of dust/molds etc ... WE aren't overtired, or lacking ANYTHING, just horrible allergies. This will not go away until we build a new house, so ... you know ... that's that.

Also, for all you parents who brag that their kid sleeps 10-12 hours a night, if you are giving him/her a bottle in the middle of the night that is NOT considered sleeping through the night. Just saying ... So my kids do not sleep their nights ... and it's normal so ... I could go all crazy and blast out against all those critics with the sleep thing but ... I'm too lazy today. LUCKY FOR YOU!!! lol.

Also, I mentally prepared myself to have a discussion about immunizations with my doctor. I was pleasantly surprised when I mentioned my concerns to hear that he had very similar concerns. (sigh of relief) Although I have more research to do I was SO glad to hear I was on the right track, there's nothing worse than having to find a new doctor when you already have a hot one .... good one that is.

Anyways I've lost my train of thought ... Barney's on tv so ... (shrug) I might come back with more  but ... probably not haha. Sigh.

Super lame late update

... well it might not be a lame post, we'll see, but it IS super lame that it's late.

Today we went to Grandpa Gareau's for his 75th birthday. My kids were GREAT, until the end ... and they wanted pictures. So I sat in the picture holding two very cranky kids. All I could think was : awesome. But I don't think a single person there thought anything other than : I've so been there.

Anyways ... I'm really tired. I guess this update WILL be super lame. I'm even having a hard time coming up with something original as a Scentsy Monthly Special ... maybe I'll have more luck tomorrow.

Salt & Vinegar chips

Tip : NEVER scratch your eye while eating salt & vinegar chips .... EVER.

That being said, my eye will undoubtedly recover and so will yours if you forget this tip.

I'm not actually sure why I like these stupid chips either. They make my hands greasy, I can't touch anything for fear of setting fire on some small wound I didn't even know existed, they burn my lips and after a while my tongue feels funny.

Same with ketchup chips, except instead of setting fire to wounds, they just stain everything red.

I don't even like chips.

Did I mention that eating chips is addicting? As is popcorn with butter ... speaking of popcorn with butter ....

I had a date night last month. We went on cheap night and I was BEWILDERED by how expensive cheap night was. THEN ... I was pissed that there were kids in our theater (totally not a kids movie in any way, shape or form), THEN ... I got irritated that my popcorn tasted LAME and I was sure the butter was non-fat or some diet butter or worse ... FAKE .... butter. THEN it was too loud. I'm only 28 years old, but that night ... I felt REALLY old. Like ... 30. 0_0. .... speaking of 30

Corey thinks he's super old. He's only going to be 30 next month, like what is his deal? He's already complaining of aches and pains that people much older than him just started complaining about. Is it a guy thing? He's always so 'tired'. Take a vitamin B dude ... anyways ....

I wish the playstation network wasn't still down. I'm really sad about that.

I have the scent 'Sugar' in my Scentsy warmer and it is making me want cotton candy. Speaking of Scentsy scents ... Amelie has a fish tank and it stinks and I hate fish tanks. I like the fish IN the fish tank, but ... speaking of the fish in Amelie's fish tank, she has 13 fish. They are getting pretty big, well the Angel fish anyways. Actually, the angel fish scare me a little bit because they are always eyeing me through the tank. Back to the scentsy ... I put our plug-in warmer in her room and it now smells like Ocean, which I thought was appropriate and MUCH better than gross fish tank.

Also, speaking of Scentsy ... I'm always over-explaining the warmers .. you know there's the Full-size warmer, the medium-size one and the plug-in. They are ALL plug-in, but the 'Plug-in' warmer sits up into the plug in ... see how confusing that is? The warmers (full-mid) come with cords. I think that makes more sense. Now that THAT is sorted ...

Why can't I watch Game of Thrones on my PS3? Does anyone know how to watch tv episodes on the PS3? Like from online? Is that possible?

Next year, we're renting the bowling alley, or something like that. Our house is just way too small for that many family members and friends. On the upside, we were all VERY close ;)

Amélie had a great time with everyone, especially her friends Desi and Kaylee. Despite the weather outside the kids went out and blew bubbles and from what I'm aware of ... no one got hurt.

Will hung out with his 2nd cousin Ryder and the 'little' girls like Madelaine, Kaitlyn and I think Kaylee stayed in? Either way, Will was making out with Madelaine who is 10 months older than him. She has a younger sister who is 5 months younger that Will so I think this might be a problem. I think somehow we are related?? Jacqueline??

Thanks to everyone who came and visited! I really enjoyed it :) Also, bonus points to my mom who not ONLY got me a birthday gift, but it wasn't late or ANYTHING! ... of course later when she told me she almost wore my birthday gift before giving it to me ... she kind of lost a couple points there. ;)

Now to plan for Corey's big bash in June.

Teacher strike

As per the way it's supposed to be, I was the last to realize that the teacher's were on strike study day. So I was bewildered when my boss told me there was no school/students today (he told me this last night by calling my cell phone, which is weird because I have a home phone but maybe he doesn't know that, I will remind him tomorrow). Today when I got to work it was eerily quiet, like when I used to get to work before other people .... my boss gave me this little task, that I completed in like ... 20 minutes THREE HOURS ...... and then I did some other phone call work that took the rest of the day.

Crappy fact : I just realized that I missed a meeting I was supposed to have at 1:00 pm. Crap.

I could go on about how teachers should be paid more, but to me it's just a fact. They just should be paid more. If you don't think a teacher should be paid more ... teach your own kids .... for 30 minutes. Go on. Go ahead. You just said no problem. Let's see it. FAIL!

But this blog post isn't about teachers or their strike despite the title that I just now remembered I put up there. This is what happens when you try to blog and do other web surfing at the same time.

Interesting fact : I REALLY want a laptop and an ergonomic chair ... or better someone to clean my basement so I can stop using this exercise ball as a chair. Or if you want to go all out for my birthday (which is on Monday by the way) I'll take a house.

Random annoyed thought : I really don't like those 'post this as your status if ...' statuses. They really get under my skin. Not for a particular reason, but I'm sure by the end of this little thought I'll think of something. They really annoy me. My status ... is just my status ... we're all proud of the people we love (in general) and we've all lost someone to something (of some sort). That doesn't make me less of a person if I don't post something, you know?

I've forgotten the entire purpose of this blog post.

Well ... I had a good day today. I really enjoy talking with people who share some of the same 'ideas' or who can at least have a really good discussion about something. You know the people who can admit a good point when they see one and all that. I really have to learn to contain my excitement and wait my turn to talk. I'm SO horrible at interrupting ... I blame Corey. (shrug) He talks too much so I HAVE to interrupt him.

But seriously, what was this post about anyways? I'm not even going to reread it and correct it. You get what you get.

I'm bored of the Royal Wedding.

I'm pissed off that the Playstation Network is down :/

I'm really happy the ferry was in so I could make it to Census training without doing the big detour.

It's almost my birthday and mother's day.

So much going on at the same time these days!! Census job, Scentsy, getting ready to go back to work (since I basically just had 2 weeks off haha) I really enjoy my Scentsy. The Census ... not so much.

I really need to organize my 'office space' and clean the basement.

Mosquitoes are out. I DESPISE mosquitoes.
