16 weeks!

16 weeks
I know. I sure dawdled in this picture taking ...

16 weeks.

Finally getting over the morning sickness.
I don't think I look real big and I haven't felt any definite movements yet but I'm hoping that just means a nice, quite, calm, Linfitt baby. You never KNOW!!

I don't fit my old pants anymore, but the x-small maternity pants that were given to me fit just right, even a little big on a few of them. Whatever. I like them. I also need to get an extender for my bra, I think my ribcage is getting bigger and my boobs are just fluffier.

More to come at my next appointment - if I can remember when it is and go to it that is ...

Conversations with Amélie and William

Amélie about her dad sucking at hunting :
Corey : I missed a HUGE buck.
Amélie : Dad ... why did you miss?
Corey : Cause I suck.
Amélie : Well ... on the other day please don't suck. I don't want to say that you suck. It's embarrassing.

At every house we went to with William for trick or treating :

William : PUPPY!!!
Me : Say thank you for the treats.
Person in house : And what are you dressed as little man? Iron Man??
William : Tony Stark. Wook PUPPY!!!

Discussing potty training with William :
Me : Do you have to use the potty?
William : No potty.
Me : But big boys use the potty.
William : No thank you.
Me : So polite.

Amélie about sharing videogames ...

Amélie : Want to play with me Mononcle Devon??
Devon : Okay.
Amélie : (hands over the remote) Okay. So you have to jump and WATCH OUT!
Devon : I got this. I know how to do this.
Amélie : (getting very worried and panicky - agitated) RUN! Look out! Here let me help you.
Devon : (holding remote away from Amélie) I. Got. this.
Amélie : I better show you how. Here, let me show you.
Devon : No.
Amélie : (reaching over more to get the remote, practically climbing over Devon to get it) Let me help you!!!
Devon : No.
Amélie : FINE!
Devon : Good.

Homeopathy conversation

We have started homeopathy for Amélie's rash, which has been deduced to being caused by needless antibiotics at her birth. But this post isn't about my usual ranti-ness against the Vic Hospital ... this is about the conversation I had with Amélie's homeopath.

This happened over skype a while ago.

Dr. O : So ... you didn't go to the hospital to have her?
Me : No.
Dr. O : What made you decide to stay home.
Me : (thinking) I just did.
Dr. O : You don't know why?
Me : I could make something up if you want. I just didn't go. I didn't want to.
Dr. O : (that look doctors give when they hear a response like that) You just didn't want to?
Me : That's right. I didn't want to. I thought about it but ... I couldn't make myself go.
Dr. O : Hm.
Me : (awkward silence) I just didn't go.
Dr. O : And then what happened?
Me : I stayed home.
Dr. O : (laughs) You are very interesting.
Me : (leans forward) You have no idea.
Dr. O : I'm sorry what was that?
Me : You have no idea ...
Dr. O : The picture is cutting in and out ...
Me : I said you have no idea!
Dr. O : I can't ... hear anything, I'll have to turn the video off. Okay now I'm very sorry about this but what was that?
Me : Well ... it's not that funny anymore but I said you have no idea.
Dr. O : About what?

Face palm.

I still like her. She likes me too I think. Not in a creepy sort of way.

I heart you.

I had this post written out all the way home - basically. Once I got home and let go of some of that frustration it seemed to melt away, especially when I began to read about another family's distress.

Today, I came face to face, with a situation I have been in before. A friend who is desperately in need of compassion, love, warmth and all I could offer was ... funny remarks, a nod, agreement - and in this case I brought a coffee (well a mocha).

I've never been good at the situations that involve sharing someone's grief, but I wanted so badly to share her grief just so maybe she would have a little less burden. I didn't know how - plus there was two 2 year olds running around and a couple little dancers just down the hall. I guess now I can reason it was hardly the time nor the place, but still - the guilt that crept into me the moment I pulled out of that parking lot overwhelmed me to a point of crying all the way home.

I cried for her loss.
I cried because this wasn't the first bad thing to happen to her, and it seemed unfair and unrelenting.
I cried because her kindness didn't deserve so much unfairness.
I cried because having little kids is hard, nevermind when you are grieving a loved one.

I cried because I didn't reach out and hug her before I left. This one was the worst. It upset me so much I almost turned around but then realized how silly that was. I should have gone back.

Her kindness and compassion towards others has never faltered, not to my knowledge. I have benefitted from her thoughtfulness and have thought of it all the time. She has a patience that she probably doesn't even realize. She's so great to others and she would have hugged me and wouldn't have cared if there were millions of people staring at us. She's so honest and practical. She would have reached out a great many times over the past two weeks, even if she thought there was lots of people to support.

I didn't know what to say - I never do, but then again that's always been okay. I've usually distanced myself from people enough that ... it's okay. Maybe it's pregnancy and hormones, but maybe it's me realizing that I haven't had a heart in a long, long time. I've put it under lock and key because I hate being hurt and crying and upset. I've always tried to reason things, put a positive spin on it and just shake off the negative. That has made me cold.

Until tonight.

I could hardly see through my tears, and every song reminded me of my guilt. I finally listened to Thneedville and Jake and the Neverland Pirates ... I might have been crying over that too by the time I got home.

I always MEAN well, to anyone who is suffering. I never know what to do or say and don't want to be seen as fake or phony so I do nothing, which ... is probably worse. For two weeks I've been thinking of her and her family and all she's been dealing with and I was getting upset and restless.

Then to top it off, the first thing she asked when I picked up the carrier that held her baby was how I was doing?! Her kindness still hasn't stopped!

All I did was sit there and wish I could help in a much better way. Corey is so good at this kind of stuff. I'm glad he offered to make supper and have them come over and I'm glad I did offer the moose meat, which we will sort out when they come for said supper that Corey will make because I will burn/forget/under spice/suck at it.

My heart hurts and maybe even the soul I forgot I even had. She's always been so patient with my oddities and 'coldness'. I heart her.

I wish I could heart away all the bad things and only make good things.

So wishing I had reached out and given that hug. If you read this J, I SO HUG YOU and heart you.

Halloween

I am a Halloween Grinch.

I don't like getting dressed up - most times.

I don't like the cold weather and I don't like going in and out of the vehicle wrangling a 2 year old.

I don't like the kids that put NO EFFORT into their costumes (the older kids).

I don't like the greedy monsters my kids turn into after like ... one house. Although William was really more interested in bringing home everyone's dogs and he pretty much wanted to just stay at EVERY house we went to.

Luckily ....

I like when my kids are polite.

I like when the older people who hardly get kids see our kids and are SO HAPPY to see kids that it's just a great thing.

I like how excited they get once they get the hang of it.

I was impressed by William's intense determination as introducing himself as Tony Stark everywhere we went.

I like our neighbors.

I like our neighbors popcorn balls and candy apples.

We only go to farms and a few specific in town places so we know the people we get all the candy from and they know the kids.

ALL that being said - CAULIFLOWER I don't like Halloween. Bah!

I didn't even take pictues. Okay ... that was bad. Sigh.

But ... now I can focus on Christmas and Remembrance Day. I like Remembrance Day WAY more than I like Halloween. Sad isn't it?

Maybe it'll grow on me or something ....

3 months - or whatever

I was going to wait until I have a picture - but let's be honest, by the time I remember where I put my camera I'll be about 8 months pregnant. I'll just add the picture whenever I get around to taking it.

Baby number 3 is due in May 2013. I know the jokes and they are funny, you don't have to stop making them, but here is the truth of the matter - there have been enough losses for me to believe that I am just meant to have babies in the month of May. Conception at any other time has resulted in a loss - always around that 3 month mark - so I may not always laugh at your joke. It really can't be helped.

May is not convenient in any way and if I had to choose I wouldn't choose May - Just sayin'. I will be leaving my job with only 2-3 months left in the school year and coming back with only 2-3 months in the year, which is TOUGH for the person taking my place and for me taking BACK my place. Ick. PLUS I won't have enough hours to get EI for the summer - which ... sucks.

But frankly, since my subconscious is all 'Hey-May-babies-are-the-freaking-best' then I'll just go with it. This will allow us to get all the birthdays done at once too, but I guess I can kiss my birthday and Mother's Day goodbye ;) Corey might complain he doesn't get to share his birthday but I'm thinking - DUDE you don't have to share your birthday!!! You never share ANYTHING lol.

We're all excited of course, Amélie wants twins and is upset I'm having a baby since she said when she grows up she's going to have babies FOR me. (eyebrow raise - yeah no.) William doesn't care. Unless it's about Iron Man, Tony Stark or Captain America I can just go-away.

I think it must be a girl too because - HELLO nausea. It was hard to hide it too!! I don't know if anyone really noticed, except for when I got the flu. I really had the flu and it kicked my ass. I forgot what getting the flu was all about I hadn't gotten it in forever. FYI It's not that fun.

It seems to be easing up and I'm already 'showing'. I thought I was imagining it actually but no ... I'm not. At least my boobs are growing too. I'm just waiting for that '2nd trimester energy' to kick in. Anytime now would be great. I also think I'm getting varicose veins. I'm not a super pleasant pregnant woman - must be a girl.

Statuses for September 6th - 2012

1. I taught the kids about orange apples today at school. I'm by far the coolest preschool teacher evah. Instead of correcting the mistake I simply substituted yellow apples for the rest of the kids. No one even noticed ..... ha. It was a Pinterest project - so will blog about it later.

2. The highway from PA to St. Louis is a road hazard in itself. Now that there are no lines on it, everyone has become morons. I especially love how they pass right by those no passing signs. Love. Or going up a hill. Or pass about 7 cars. Or ... or ... sigh.

3. We have had no running water for over 24 hours now. My hair is greasy, my dishes are piling up and my animals are thirsty and they're buckets are now empty. Love.

4. Our furnace is an asshole, pretty much all the time now. Luckily Corey decided to get on it right away, but dear winter, please hold off. Geez.

5. Jay Jay is at his new home and settling in great. He got a hair cut, a nail trim, a nice brushing (so needed all of it) and he has a nice new purple halter. HE looks great and I hope he meets all their expectations. Given what he is expected to do ... he should be super good at it. Come up to the barn - be caught - be groomed and spoiled - released while other horses get worked on.

6. The kids have been good at the new sitter's, or so everyone says. Although Amélie did say 'Don't ask her if I gave her attitude' when we went back to get William on Wednesday 0_o. I asked. Amélie didn't. Someone ... is lying bahahahaha. Who cares, it seems to be going good and that's all that matters.

7. Amélie is settling into school nicely and has made a new bestie. Or a first bestie - not sure. Anyways the two together make everyone else laugh and her new bestie pulls her around by the tutu - uh since that's pretty much all that Amélie will agree to wear to school.

8. Mornings have me up and at 'em, dragging two kids out the door who are whining they want to sleep. I'm actually enjoying it since they now know what I mean when I say ... you're going to be tired ......

9. It's hunting season.

10. I forgot I put ribs in the slow cooker today and I was super happy to be surprised with them when I got home. I was so confused I wondered if someone had made me a surprise only to remember how smart I was.

11. Corey has a list of projects he wants to get done and is being really good at keeping up with them. Or at least getting the info he needs to get them done. Yay for him.

12. I have no ability to remember anything that I say I will so if I say that to you  ... you should probably email me or text me ... repeatedly.
