Halloween

I am a Halloween Grinch.

I don't like getting dressed up - most times.

I don't like the cold weather and I don't like going in and out of the vehicle wrangling a 2 year old.

I don't like the kids that put NO EFFORT into their costumes (the older kids).

I don't like the greedy monsters my kids turn into after like ... one house. Although William was really more interested in bringing home everyone's dogs and he pretty much wanted to just stay at EVERY house we went to.

Luckily ....

I like when my kids are polite.

I like when the older people who hardly get kids see our kids and are SO HAPPY to see kids that it's just a great thing.

I like how excited they get once they get the hang of it.

I was impressed by William's intense determination as introducing himself as Tony Stark everywhere we went.

I like our neighbors.

I like our neighbors popcorn balls and candy apples.

We only go to farms and a few specific in town places so we know the people we get all the candy from and they know the kids.

ALL that being said - CAULIFLOWER I don't like Halloween. Bah!

I didn't even take pictues. Okay ... that was bad. Sigh.

But ... now I can focus on Christmas and Remembrance Day. I like Remembrance Day WAY more than I like Halloween. Sad isn't it?

Maybe it'll grow on me or something ....

3 months - or whatever

I was going to wait until I have a picture - but let's be honest, by the time I remember where I put my camera I'll be about 8 months pregnant. I'll just add the picture whenever I get around to taking it.

Baby number 3 is due in May 2013. I know the jokes and they are funny, you don't have to stop making them, but here is the truth of the matter - there have been enough losses for me to believe that I am just meant to have babies in the month of May. Conception at any other time has resulted in a loss - always around that 3 month mark - so I may not always laugh at your joke. It really can't be helped.

May is not convenient in any way and if I had to choose I wouldn't choose May - Just sayin'. I will be leaving my job with only 2-3 months left in the school year and coming back with only 2-3 months in the year, which is TOUGH for the person taking my place and for me taking BACK my place. Ick. PLUS I won't have enough hours to get EI for the summer - which ... sucks.

But frankly, since my subconscious is all 'Hey-May-babies-are-the-freaking-best' then I'll just go with it. This will allow us to get all the birthdays done at once too, but I guess I can kiss my birthday and Mother's Day goodbye ;) Corey might complain he doesn't get to share his birthday but I'm thinking - DUDE you don't have to share your birthday!!! You never share ANYTHING lol.

We're all excited of course, Amélie wants twins and is upset I'm having a baby since she said when she grows up she's going to have babies FOR me. (eyebrow raise - yeah no.) William doesn't care. Unless it's about Iron Man, Tony Stark or Captain America I can just go-away.

I think it must be a girl too because - HELLO nausea. It was hard to hide it too!! I don't know if anyone really noticed, except for when I got the flu. I really had the flu and it kicked my ass. I forgot what getting the flu was all about I hadn't gotten it in forever. FYI It's not that fun.

It seems to be easing up and I'm already 'showing'. I thought I was imagining it actually but no ... I'm not. At least my boobs are growing too. I'm just waiting for that '2nd trimester energy' to kick in. Anytime now would be great. I also think I'm getting varicose veins. I'm not a super pleasant pregnant woman - must be a girl.

Statuses for September 6th - 2012

1. I taught the kids about orange apples today at school. I'm by far the coolest preschool teacher evah. Instead of correcting the mistake I simply substituted yellow apples for the rest of the kids. No one even noticed ..... ha. It was a Pinterest project - so will blog about it later.

2. The highway from PA to St. Louis is a road hazard in itself. Now that there are no lines on it, everyone has become morons. I especially love how they pass right by those no passing signs. Love. Or going up a hill. Or pass about 7 cars. Or ... or ... sigh.

3. We have had no running water for over 24 hours now. My hair is greasy, my dishes are piling up and my animals are thirsty and they're buckets are now empty. Love.

4. Our furnace is an asshole, pretty much all the time now. Luckily Corey decided to get on it right away, but dear winter, please hold off. Geez.

5. Jay Jay is at his new home and settling in great. He got a hair cut, a nail trim, a nice brushing (so needed all of it) and he has a nice new purple halter. HE looks great and I hope he meets all their expectations. Given what he is expected to do ... he should be super good at it. Come up to the barn - be caught - be groomed and spoiled - released while other horses get worked on.

6. The kids have been good at the new sitter's, or so everyone says. Although Amélie did say 'Don't ask her if I gave her attitude' when we went back to get William on Wednesday 0_o. I asked. Amélie didn't. Someone ... is lying bahahahaha. Who cares, it seems to be going good and that's all that matters.

7. Amélie is settling into school nicely and has made a new bestie. Or a first bestie - not sure. Anyways the two together make everyone else laugh and her new bestie pulls her around by the tutu - uh since that's pretty much all that Amélie will agree to wear to school.

8. Mornings have me up and at 'em, dragging two kids out the door who are whining they want to sleep. I'm actually enjoying it since they now know what I mean when I say ... you're going to be tired ......

9. It's hunting season.

10. I forgot I put ribs in the slow cooker today and I was super happy to be surprised with them when I got home. I was so confused I wondered if someone had made me a surprise only to remember how smart I was.

11. Corey has a list of projects he wants to get done and is being really good at keeping up with them. Or at least getting the info he needs to get them done. Yay for him.

12. I have no ability to remember anything that I say I will so if I say that to you  ... you should probably email me or text me ... repeatedly.

Old school Spiderman

0_0

Thank you Netflix, for ruining my life.

I have watched so much Spiderman I could probably tell you all the character names and his entire life story.

No I couldn't, I didn't pay attention.

Fact : Old Spiderman cartoons don't have too much crazy in them. Unrealistic, a little exaggerated, but not too crazy.

I especially am amused by the X-men/Spiderman cartoons Amélie has found. I'm not. I'm sick of Spiderman. I think Spiderman is a loser. He can climb walls ..... oooooohhhh!!!! He can't even shoot webs without special help. Like ... pfffffff.

The lines are corny. Very corny, like garden corny. The bad guys never die, they just get reinvented.

My kids love it.

Carpe Diem

Carpe Diem

We all hear it. We all know it.

Seize the day.

Our conference speaker today - we had two and they were both awesome - but this last one was really good. Okay the first one was good too but on a different subject.

As I sit here, in my hotel room, typing this, I can't stop wishing I was at home with my kids, had I driven here, I probably would have lefts hours ago and would be at home tucking them in, hugging them and snuggling them.

And also watching Corey do his sweaty workout that is making him start to look like a Greek God.

Regardless, in our house, we are okay with co-sleeping. Even encourage it. Most of the time. There are those nights where you just want to SPRAWL across the bed ... know what I mean? Most of the time I cave and today I was reminded simply that today is today. Tomorrow might not come. Snuggles in bed to reassure your sweet baby that everything is alright in the their world right now, to us might mean a night of tossing, turning, bruises, but to them ... it means reassurance that everything is alright in their world, for at least tonight. They will have plenty of time to learn that the world, in general, and life, in general, is a donkey. It doesn't always go where you want it to, it doesn't always do what you want it to ... It's up to us to teach them that you have to take the moments where things are just right and make them golden.

He had many great stories and he was very funny. Unfortunately, he made me want to be at home with my kids and husband more than anything and now I can't wait for tomorrow to be done.

Do you think if I told my boss I was Seizing the Day and going home instead of the conference I could get away with it? I wonder if I could convince my carpool partner ....

Welcome to the Family Yvonne

Saturday was my brother's wedding and I was in charge of the welcome to the family speech. After a few requests to see it I decided to post it. Here it is :

This is going to be short and it’s going to be weird.
It won’t make much sense – I don’t have a beard.

Gayle wanted to help, she offered some tips
But her rhyming sucked.

You’ve known us a while, too bad for you.
So our nonsense, at least, is nothing new.

You’ve been with our brother, seems like forever
Last night was your last chance
Chance rhymes with pants

The day’s finally here, you’re part of our clan.
Don’t worry, stay sane – what am I saying?!
Conversations will change, less censor I’m sure
That worries you? It should we’re immature.

So far you’ve been great at what’s on your plate
Which is impressive considering we’re eight

We’re actually seven but that didn’t rhyme
I’m sorry for that I ran out of time.

You get no new brothers, unless you count Corey
I know, I know, he’s a whole other poem story.
But he’s here for Devon and he’s here for you
He knows what it’s like to be in your shoe-z

He’s been here for long, he’ll guide you around
Our crazy but happy merry-go-round

Oh damn this is long, and oh boy- it’s just weird
I’ve yet to hear Gayle.  Please bring me a beer.

Sisters, of course, you get just four more
Yay hormones and drama just like a cold war.

With Maddie, the youngest, you’re patient and kind
Her questions and queries you don’t seem to mind.
You play referee when push comes so shove
I’m sure that you’ve earned her no matter what love

You’ve survived Gayle, one entire year
I’m sorry for her, here … have my beer.
By now you must know she’s so full of sh - (shtuff)
but If you’ve been hurt, she’s got the most grit.

Patrica is next, her jokes make no sense
Thank you for laughing, we’re still in suspense
If it’s help you need, you know where to go
Unless you can’t find her, go online – say hello

Two sets of new parents you’ve now inherited
Just wait while I laugh in double hysterics
Mom is still smiling with all this hubba
I’m sure you’re her favourite daughter-in-law

They love you like one of their own, so they say
Rodger, Dad and Dawn, change favorites each day

And last but not least, there’s me I’m Corinne
The oldest and shortest and have a great grin
I’m crazy and weird or so you say
It takes one to know one, so come on this way

To quote Doctor Seuss, who inspired this speech
We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird,
and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours,
we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.

You’re my new little sister and I’m honoured and touched
You’ve asked me to be here, I love you so much
Into this chaos, I announce it officially
We welcome Yvonne, into our family

Tupperware Part 3

Episode Fridgesmarts .... again

Ever since I got my Fridgesmart containers, I've been eating much, much better. Today, while grocery shopping I spent more time in the fresh food aisle than I normally would. It was encouraging to know that my fruits and vegetables would last a little longer than they usually did so I bought a better variety! Of course not more than Fridgesmart containers. 0_0.

I've also noticed that we drink more water because of our pitcher in the fridge (also Tupperware). Another great thing, but much less healthy, is my chips are no longer going soft and gross as soon as I open the bag. I simply put the bag, rolled up in a Tupperware container and voila. Ready for the next time I want chips.

I want to put everything in Tupperware containers. Even my kids. Sometimes. Most times. I would buy a vented Fridgesmart for them, of course.

My sister also loves Tupperware. My other sister too, I think my sister-in-law to be loves it too. I should get her Tupperware for her shower. Practical AND fun. I could stuff it with fun goodies.

BRAINWAVE

OOoooooh I could stuff it with Scentsy and Velata!!!!

Sidenote : Corey also loves Tupperware for hunting.
